In March the longest running Advertiser lost their tram to a competitor - 2101 which had been Holden
Olympic Team since September 1998 got replaced by Renault this month. Holden had 2101 for over 2 years.
Also noted, (this may have happened earlier in the year), their $36 combined Light Rail - Monorail weeklys have
been reduced to $28. I guess no one was buying them. :-). It would appear a lot of regular commuters are traveling to
Pyrmont Bay station and then walking over Pyrmont bridge (in the shadow of the MonoRail) into the city.
I also rode the full length of the line on the 31st, using a day pass ticket. The track quality on the western extension is
noticably poorer than the 'core system' tracks. On the extension, the existing wooden sleepered track was refurbished, where
the core system was relayed on concrete sleepers and new rails. Before the year is out, I expect WestEx tracks will see the
attentions of RSA tamping machines.
