Short Biography I received a M.Sc. degree in computer science from the Instituto Tecnologico de Aeronautica in 2002. For my master's thesis under supervison of Prof. Carlos H. C. Ribeiro, I analyzed the performance of reinforcement learning algorithms applied to the navigation of real mobile robots. In 2003, I was awarded a Monbusho scholarship to pursue research in Japan. In 2004, I have held an internship at Toshiba Corporate Research & Development Center, where I conducted research in robotics under the supervision of Prof. Nobuto Matsuhira. I received my Ph.D. degree in engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2007. My doctoral research under Prof. Yukio Kosugi focused on computational intelligence algorithms for feature extraction from hyperspectral image data. Since 2008, I have joined the Australian Centre for Field Robotics, University of Sydney. Beyond academia, I enjoy watching movies and playing the guitar. I also like to play volleyball and soccer. |
