SMALL consists of two major parts: a linear algebra library (matrices and vectors) and a spatial math library (poses and transformations). . Linear Algebra The LinAlg library provides matrices and vectors with common operations such as inverses, compositions, determinants, and norms. The implementation uses C++ templates, thus allowing matrices and vectors of arbitrary size. However, the operations are optimized towards small matrix sizes commonly encountered in robotics (up to about 10x10). Matrix sizes are fixed and must be known at compile time. LinAlg is defined in linalg.hh, and includes the Matrix, ColVector, and RowVector classes. linalg.hh also contains type definitions for commonly used Matrix and Vector sizes and additional useful angle conversion functions. . Spatial Math The spatial math library implements poses in two and three dimensions (Pose2D and Pose3D). Poses can also be interpreted as transformations between frames. Operations include compositions, inverses, and transformations. The interface additionally allows for rotations to be specified in the prefered representation of the developer through the Rotation2D and Rotation3D classes. A covariance class is available for 2D poses (Pose2DCov).
