Comment: Between Carlton and Alawah. The machines following the track train. I have no idea what this machine does...
pict4513 * Carlton station - the machine is articulated. You can see the new sleepers running along their conveyer inside the machine. You can see the bogie under the articulation is lifted off the rails. (The rails are not in the right place at this point anyway - it's not clear, but they are beside the wheels not under them!). * 1920 x 2560 * (798KB)

pict4514 * Carlton station - the loading bays and underneath, the rail placing arms. Two guys sit under here and put plastic 'biscuits' down between the pandrol fastenings so that the rail doesn't sit directly on the concrete. Why arn't these pastic pads built into the sleepers ? * 2560 x 1920 * (2.81MB)

pict4515 * Near Carlton - the 'business' end of the train is laying track through the platform. Another two guys sit under this wagon and place pandrol clips into position. A team walk along behind the train and knock them in. At this point the entire track replacement train has run over track where the rails are NOT fastened to the sleepers! * 2560 x 1920 * (3.04MB)

pict4516 * Near Carlton - the 'business' end of the train is laying track through the platform. The guys in 'front' of the locomotive are putting the pandol clips in. * 2560 x 1920 * (2.36MB)

pict4517 * Between Carlton and Alawah. The machines following the track train. This machine looks like a 'spot tamper' * 2560 x 1920 * (2.42MB)
